Palmyra City officials hire company to look into new police station
PALMYRA, Mo. (WGEM) -
City officials recently voted to have a company study the need for a new facility and look at possible locations. The Palmyra police department's current building is only 700 square feet and Police Chief Eddie Bogue says a new building would benefit the community for years to come.
"A building should last 25 to 30 years so what you have to try to do is project what the size of the community would be in 25 to 30 years. If the town doubles in population, we may need to build it for that because we don't want to rebuild every time we grow a little bit," said Palmyra Police Chief Eddie Bogue.
Bogue said the study could take a couple more weeks to complete and if everything goes according to plan, a new station could open in as little as 18 months.
