QPS starts with lots of new faculty and staff

Chances are, if your child goes to Quincy Public Schools, they're going to see a new staff member Wednesday. At Quincy Junior High, administrators say this school year they're starting with one of the largest bunch of new staff and faculty members in quite a while.

New Assistant Principal for Curriculum/Instruction at Quincy Junior High Kim Dinkheller says the new staff brings fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the table.

"We have a great number of new staff members that are in our building and we have lots of new people that are coming to our district from new places and so we're looking forward to a great opportunity to move in a new journey," said Dinkheller.

Other new QPS staff includes Brian Trowbridge as the new Principal of Monroe School replacing Julie Stratman, who is now Elementary Academic Director. Dewey School gets new principal Brad Funkenbusch. And Lori Miles is the new Director of the Regional Safe School Special Education Program.

Some of these new administrators may look familiar. In fact, Dinkheller has been with the District for 12 years.  She taught 9th grade history at the Junior High and also worked as a student dean. Funkenbusch has been a 6th grade teacher at Baldwin for several years. And Miles has taught special education in Quincy since the late 1980s.

Dinkheller says the staff is a strong force behind your child's education. A force she says she's excited about.

"You're excited about the kids coming in and getting an opportunity to learn all about your colleagues and learn about the kids and help them grow and for a teacher and anyone who works in education this is a really exciting time," said Dinkheller.

Dinkheller says with  new faces come new challenges, but she says it makes a stronger team.

"People bring a lot to the table," said Dinkheller. "We have people that are coming to us from our own district and we have some people from outside the district that are coming in and I think it's a great way for us to share ideas and share vision and really think about ways we can move forward on this new journey as we continue to excel as Quincy Public Schools."
