Some Fort Madison High School parents are angry over a mix up on the first day of school Wednesday when their kids weren't picked up from the bus stop.
Transportation officials say since so many families registered late this year, they had to enforce a Iowa school code for the first time to prevent overcrowding on the buses.
The code states that high school students who live less than three miles from school can't ride a bus.
"To try to ease the burden on the actual eligible students busing we will start with the high school of those walk distance rules," said transpiration director Steve Carle.
Carle says they are re-evaluating the situation and will let parents know in a few weeks if high school kids can start riding again.
