DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) -- A Davenport same-sex couple says they feel like any other family now that their battle over a birth certificate for their 7-month-old son has been resolved.
Jess and Jenny Buntemeyer recently received their son's birth certificate in the mail with an updated detail: Both of their names on the document.
The Quad City-Times reports (http://bit.ly/18OYMuA ) the couple waited to add Jenny Buntemeyer's name to the certificate until after the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act, as well as other victories in court over same-sex rights in Iowa.
Jenny Buntemeyer says the birth certificate allows her to share her work benefits with both her wife and son. She calls their new state-recognized status as parents a little surreal.
