New building to be ready for MACC's Spring Semester

Construction on the new Moberly Area Community College Building in Hannibal is almost complete.

Officials are expecting the building to be ready for the Spring Semester, and it can't come soon enough.  This year, M-A-C-C saw a 13% increase in enrollment in the Hannibal District.  Director of Higher education Wendy Johnson says this building will be 18,000 square feet and have three additional classrooms, meaning the college won't have to rely on other schools for learning space.

"We're so appreciative that Hannibal High and Palmyra High School for all these years have allowed us to come in on the evenings and utilize their science lab but we will finally have a science lab to call our own, we'll finally have adequate parking and we're really excited about the new building," Johnson said.

Johnson says the exterior is mostly finished and the majority of the work still to be done is on the inside of the building.
