Time to head home for Labor Day travelers

Many travelers made their way home Monday afternoon.

Some said gas prices made the trip a little more painful on the wallet. In West Quincy, gas was $3.69, but it was ten cents higher in Illinois.

But many drivers said the spike in gas prices made them think carefully about if their travel was worth it. "I'd say they do, somewhat, yes. Other times we really feel like we need to spend time with family and so forth, so we bite the bullet and travel anyway," said Mark Shupke, who was on his way home to Iowa.

According to AAA, 85 percent of people traveling this weekend went by car.
