Two aging bridges to be replaced with $1.6 million investment
(WGEM) -- Two aging bridges will be replaced thanks to the Illinois Jobs Now program.
Governor Pat Quinn announced Thursday that an 11 span timber beam bridge carrying County Highway 27 over the BNSF Railroad 2.4 miles south of U.S. Route 24 will be replaced with a three span steel beam bridge. The project will cost $1,216,812.
A bridge carrying County Highway 30 over Panther Creek one mile south of West Point will also be replaced for $397,728.
Illinois Jobs Now is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
