Harlem Wizards basketball player visits local schools

Kids at Quincy schools got to meet a high flying hoopster who will be dazzling crowds in November.

John "Big J" Smith stopped by Blessed Sacrament today. Smith is a member of the Harlem Wizards basketball team, and tops out at six feet eight inches.  He was in town to promote the team's visit to Quincy on November 16th, where they'll take on administrators and teachers at Baldwin Gym.

Smith says he loves being apart of the Harlem Wizards because he loves working with kids.

"Because I know growing up, I didn't have a role model. And I didn't have anyone to look up to, so I had to do everything on my own. So I just want to make sure that the kids know that there's guys out here doing things positive. And you know, if you stay in school and you stay on the right path...the sky's the limit," said Smith.

Smith also visited with students at Monroe, Berrian and Baldwin schools.
