Local musician raises money for Honor Flight

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

A local musician is sharing her love of singing - to help veterans take the trip of a lifetime.

Saturday afternoon, fifteen year old Liz Bentley was the featured performer at a Honor Flight fundraiser at the American Legion.
The event included live music, food, and a raffle and silent auction.

Liz says she just wanted to show appreciation for a group that has always supported her in her music. "I don't know, they've done so much for us, and I really enjoy playing music that they love. I love seeing the looks on their faces when they see me come in and playing music that they know," she said.

Bentley said her goal was to send 3 to 5 veterans on the Honor Flight. By the end of the concert - they had well exceeded that! They raised nearly 12 thousand dollars - enough to send 33 veterans!
