City now emailing out information to interested residents

Information about jobs, news alerts, and bid announcements in the city of Quincy are now just a click away in your email inbox.

It's a brand new feature on the Quincy city website. Residents can now sign up to receive those notices.

IT Director Jim Murphy says they can find out information about things like road closures and boil orders, and scroll through fourteen types of job descriptions if they're looking for work. He says this is one of several measures especially targeted at the younger, more technologically savvy, generation. "We're trying to get the younger people more engaged, and by going and starting the Facebook account, and then really changing the look of the website and trying to do more interactive things, we're hoping it keeps our residents more involved," he said.
