City looks to improve Hannibal Regional Airport

The city of Hannibal will look to improve it's regional airport.

The city will look to begin construction in the Fall by sealing up the cracks on the pavement including the runways.  City Engineer Mark Rees says they received a grant from MoDOT aviation to complete the project in the fall.  Rees said the reason they're not doing it right now is because of the hot weather.

"Later on when we cool down to 70 degree highs or 60 degree highs and the slabs would have contracted back, so the cracks will be as wide as their going to be and that's the time the crack seal will work the best," he said.

Rees said the project will only take a matter of weeks.  A start date has not been decided.
