Proposed senior housing complex on hold

A proposed 50 unit senior housing project in Palmyra will have to wait another year.

Local Developer Ed Dent said he was $500,000 short of where he needed to be for the $10 million project.  He said tax credits weren't as high this year to begin construction on the open lot.  While he can still apply for tax credits next year, Dent is upset he wasn't able to start construction right away.

"I'm very disappointed.  We would have liked to have seen it happen because it would've been such an anchor to our downtown.  We're trying to revitalize our downtown area like so many other small towns," Dent said.

Dent said until next September, he will try to salvage as he can in the lot then decide what to tear down.
