Up close and personal with birds of prey

Hundreds of hawks, owls and other birds of prey fly through our air every day here in the Tri-States but, Saturday is your chance to see them up close and personal.

The Raptor Rehabilitation Center in Quincy is hosting a "Help the Raptors, Help the Environment" fundraiser at Pet Supplies Plus.

The Raptor Rehab Center is a non-profit organization developed to help treat and care for injured birds of prey.

The event will be held Saturday afternoon from 11:00am - 3:00pm. People can pay $5 to get their picture taken with various raptors including owls and hawks.

"Just bring the whole family out and see these wonderful birds that normally you would never see," said Organizer Karen Roush. "I mean, you see them in the sky but, they look totally different when you're standing right next to them."

Roush says the money from Saturday's fundraiser will be used to expand the outdoor weathering area which helps the raptors become familiar with the environment during rehabilitation. Their goal is to reach $2,000.
