Macomb School District Superintendent Patrick Twomey says shortly after beginning negotiations for a new teacher contract, both side realized they were at an impasse.
The two sides started negotiations Sept. 4 and after three-and-a-half hours, they agreed to bring in a federal mediator before continuing. Twomey says they are waiting to see when a mediator is available and hopes it will be relatively soon.
The previous two-year contract expired at the beginning of the school year.
