CANTON, Mo. (WGEM) -- Tyler Niemann says making his college decision felt like 100 lbs. lifted off his back.
The All-State senior catcher from Canton had recently narrowed his future whereabouts to two schools, Morehead State and Quincy University.
Niemann says he felt comfortable at both universities.
But on Monday night he decided he felt most comfortable at NCAA Division I Morehead State and made his verbal commitment to the Eagle baseball program that evening.
Niemann eagerly awaits the chance to play at the next level.
"I'm happy with the way everything turned out. It was tough to choose between the two schools I was considering, but in the end I felt like I chose the right one," Niemann said.
"I know it definitely will be a big step coming from small Canton, Missouri to the Ohio Valley Conference. It's going to be a huge difference but I feel like I can take that head-on and I'm going to be able to succeed hopefully. I'm going to give it everything I've got and I just feel like my drive and my passion really kind of set me apart from others."
Now that his college choice is behind him Niemann says his goal is to help lead Canton back to the Class 1 state tournament next spring.
Only this time, he's hoping to bring home the championship trophy.
