Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore announced his pick for the director of utilities and engineering Friday morning at a news conference.
Pending approval by the city council, Jeff Conte would take over the newly combined position Oct. 7. He currently works for Klingner and Associates where he is the water/wastewater systems department head.
Conte would replace longtime utilities director David Kent, who is retiring at the end of the year after 40 years with the city. In the engineering department, Conte would replace interim director Marty Wagner, who replaced Jeff Steinkamp when Moore took office earlier this year.
The city council will vote on Moore's nomination during the next meeting scheduled for Monday, Sept. 23.
