There could be some changes on the way for the Keokuk Police Department.
The Keokuk City Council has tabled a decision on the police department's payroll budget.
The issue in question is a discrepancy in the number of employees budgeted for the police department.
There is currently an unbudgeted officer on the payroll for next year, but with one officer set to retire the question is whether that position should be replaced.
"Back when we had the two police officers one on disability and one retire we didn't replace those and for a period of time we didn't have a problem with overtime and we were able to man the department I suppose we could have less officers," said Marion.
Marion says he will meet with Police Chief Dave Hinton and the finance committee to discuss options to resolve the problem.
One option is to eliminate the unbudgeted position through attrition.
