Firefighters sell shirts for mammograms

Posted:
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

It's not often that you see firefighters wearing pink, but one group of them says it's hoping to change that.

The Quincy Fire Department is selling t-shirts to benefit the Blessing Breast Center.  The shirts feature artwork from Firefighter Mike Dade and a portion of the money will help pay for mammograms.

"We became aware of the fact that Blessing does some fundraising to help people that are underprivileged," Quincy Fire Chief Joe Henning said. "Maybe access mammograms and things like that, and we just thought that it was a good fit."

The shirts start at $15.00 and you can find them at Quincy's Central Fire Station at 9th and Vermont, or at the Breast Center's store.

Henning says there will be a booth set up Tuesday night outside the fire station for anyone who wants to pull up and buy a shirt.
