Motorcycle accidents on the rise in Adams County

Across Adams County, law enforcement officials say motorcycle accidents are on the rise.

Adams County Sheriff Brent Fischer said he can't be sure what's causing the increase in motorcycle accidents.  He said drivers are used to fewer motorcycles on the road now because of cooler weather, but this year, it hasn't been the case.  Fischer said that means everyone using the road needs to pay extra attention.

"If you're not careful and looking as a driver, they can be easy to miss. So if you're looking for a motor vehicle instead of a motorcycle it can be easy to miss if you're not paying attention," he said.

Just last year, more than 140 motorcyclists died in a motor vehicle crash across Illinois.
