The two men charged in connection with Tuesday morning's murder of a Hannibal gas station employee will have a preliminary hearing on October 28.
Family members filled courtroom seats at the Marion County Circuit Court Friday. Gary James Wiltermood III and Michael Studer made their first appearance, via video conferencing, on a laptop before Judge John Jackson.
Both men are each charged with second-degree murder in connection with the killing of 61-year-old Adrienne Arnett. Police say she was shot and killed at Abel's Quick Shop at 100 Shinn Ln. just before 4 a.m.
"The guy that supposedly pulled the trigger is my cousin, but I hope he gets what he deserves," Joseph Elzea said. "For anybody who innocently gets killed like that, it's not right. Nobody deserves to have their life taken like that."
"Regardless of him being my family, I hope he gets what he deserves," Elzea added.

No other charges are filed in this case and the prosecutor declined to comment when asked if he plans on charging anyone else in connection with the murder.
