The Quincy Society of Fine Arts is now taking applications for those looking to fund arts projects next year.
Last year in Adams County, 19 community arts projects were awarded more than $6,000, with most grants averaging $350.
To qualify, the organization has to be non-profit and community based. Organizer Fran Cook says groups can ask for the funds to be used for various things within the community.
"We gave Muddy River Opera Company money for the children's opera," said Cook. "We gave the theater for traveling theater. We gave money to various schools for cultural arts programs within the school."
The program does not fund projects that have already been started or any projects that are a part of a school curriculum.
"When someone is going to make an application, we do not fund supplies," Cook said. "For example; if the artist needs crayons, paints, or something like that, we don't fund that."
The deadline to submit applications is Friday, October 25 and must be postmarked no later than October 25 or hand-delivered that day to the QSFA office in the Civic Center. For more information click http://www.artsquincyforyou.com/page.php?id=5
