Keokuk community leader dies


KEOKUK, Ia. (WGEM) -- A long time community leader has died.

Irwin "Irv" Lindner passed away last weekend.  He formed Lindner Aviation in Keokuk with his wife back in 1946, after serving in World War II.  That company continues to work out of Keokuk Municipal Airport to this day.  The airport was also renamed Lindner field in his honor in 2002.  

Lindner also served on the Keokuk School Board, Lee County Farm Bureau and the Keokuk Rotary Club.  Irv Lindner was 95.  A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, October 20 at 1 p.m. at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk.
