EBT users experience trouble with card

Dozens of residents in 17 states - including in Illinois and Iowa can once again use their EBT cards, after the system was down for much of Saturday afternoon.

The cards allow welfare recipients to purchase groceries and other necessities.

A spokesperson from the USDA stated that the problem was due to a technical issue that came up during a routine system check by Xerox, the company that manages the system. They said the issue was not related to the government shutdown.
