It's a new way to kick off the end of the harvest season in Hannibal. The first annual Hootenany had more than one thousand people come out to take part in events such as pony rides, games, and pumpkin carvings. Event Coordinator Jason Gregory said he decided to locate the Hootenany event outside Mark Twain Cave because it went well with the fall theme.
"I thought this venue in autumn is picturesque. It's the perfect setting and it just everything we needed to make this event happen and make sure that we had the space and everything," he said.
The event goes on until 11:00 pm Saturday night. Gregory said he plans to make this a yearly event.
