Quest Stables seeks volunteers

Posted:
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Workers at Quest stables in Quincy are hoping to stay in the saddle by recruiting more volunteers.

The stables rescue and rehabilitate abused or neglected horses, and also offer therapeutic rides with area children with disabilities.

Monday night they hosted a cook-out to meet with potential volunteers, and hosted kids from the Quincy Autism Group and Special Olympics.

Volunteers say there's such a special relationship between horses and people. "Every horse just has a special calming personality that is very conducive to a child that just needs to have a little calmness in their life, or they're having struggles, to come out and ride the horses or to pet the horses and to groom the horses," said volunteer barn manager Terry Anderson.
