QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

The Adam's County Sheriff's Office said a semi truck hit a traffic signal pole at the intersection of Radio Road and Gardner Expressway in Quincy early Tuesday morning.

Deputies said 57-year-old Steven M. Danko was driving South on Gardener Expressway when he hit the traffic signal pole at Radio Road at 4:05 a.m.

Deputies said Danko told them visibility in the rain was low and that the signals were not working. The truck bed was heavily damaged in the accident and spilled its contents, holding up traffic for hours.

Deputies said Danko wasn't injured and was ticketed for improper lane usage.
