Multiple weekend events prompt change in bus routes

Posted:
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Buses in Quincy will be taking different routes this weekend, due to the number of events taking place in the downtown area.

The Early Tin Dusters, the Octoberfest marching band parade, and a 5K run put on by Quincy Medical Group will all be flooding Maine Street on Saturday.

As a result, Quincy Transit Lines will be running its Baldwin route down 8th Street to Broadway and out to K-Mart.

"These things kind of promulgated the change," said Tom Vanderbor with Quincy Transit Lines.  "We thought since Maine Street's going to be such a mess that we're going to need to go down a different route other than Maine Street on the Baldwin route."

Vanderbor says everything will be back to normal on Monday.
