HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -

The Hannibal Police Department said an attempted robber is on the loose after trying to rob a Hannibal business Friday night.

Lieutenant John Zerbonia said officers were called to the 800 block of Mark Twain Avenue just after 11:30 p.m. Friday for an attempted robbery.

Witnesses told police that a white man about six feet tall, who was wearing a black jacket with a hood, blue jeans, and a covering on his face, went inside and demanded money from the clerk.

Witnesses said the attempted robber said he had a weapon, but didn't show it.

Zerbonia said the clerk did not give the attempted robber any money and after several demands, the attempted robber ran away.

Police searched the area, but didn't find the attempted robber. No one was hurt.
