Posted:

A wedding reception argument Saturday night between two Pike County, Illinois men sent the groom to the hospital and a guest to jail, authorities said.

Cass County Sheriff's Office said Shane Ward, 40, of Griggsville stabbed Steven E. Sappington, 51, with a knife in the neck and throat during the fight near the Cass County town of Bluff Springs.

Ohrn said the Sappington, who was also from Griggsville, was taken to Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He is expected to recover.

Cass County State's Attorney Matt Mays says Ward was formally charged Tuesday with two felony counts of aggravated battery. Bond was set at $50,000. Ward did post 10% and has been released from custody.
