Some Northeast Missouri resident will see a natural gas rate hike

PALMYRA, Mo. (WGEM) - Liberty Utilities customers in Northeast Missouri will see a natural gas rate hike starting Wednesday.

The rates are going up by eight cents per one hundred cubic feet of natural gas.

Customers currently pay approximately 46 cents per one hundred feet of natural gas.

Officials say the rate hike is due to the changes in the wholesale cost of natural gas and the change in the company's actual cost adjustment factor.

Some residents say they're going to have to be more conservative with what they use this winter.

"I try to keep my usage down," Liberty Utilities customer Ken Rothweiler said. "Maybe make it a little cooler in the house. It makes it kind of hard."

Liberty Utilities serves the Northeast Missouri counties of Clark, Lewis, Knox, Marion, Pike, Ralls and Scotland.
