Hannibal police arrest suspect for stealing truck, trailer, ATV

HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) - A New London man was arrested Sunday after Hannibal police said he stole a truck, pulling a trailer and an ATV from a gas station on Shinn Lane in Hannibal.

Lieutenant John Zerbonia said the truck was reported stolen Friday after the owner left the keys in the truck at Abel's Quick Stop on Shinn Lane. On Saturday, Zerbonia said the truck was located on the parking lot of the Hannibal Inn on Market Street.

The Northeast Missouri Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant at 218 A North 4th Street in Hannibal Saturday. While there, it found items Zerbonia said were in the stolen truck and one of the people at the residence told police the stolen items belonged to Jason E. Stamper, 26.

Zerbonia said the department found Stamper at his residence in the 900 block of Vermont, where police arrested him.

Zerbonia said the trailer and ATV were recovered in Ralls County after the arrest.

Stamper is charged with tampering in the first degree. His bond is set at $25,000 cash.
