HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -- One of the area's top players in high school spikes is now a collegiate volleyball player.
Hannibal's Brooke Watson made her college announcement by signing a national letter of intent with NCAA Division-II McKendree on Tuesday afternoon.
It's the opportunity to pursue a life long goal of playing at the next level.
Watson says she will never forget helping lead Hannibal to some of the best seasons in program history, including a rare a district championship.
"It was the first time in 20 years that Hannibal volleyball had ever gone to sectionals," Watson expressed.
"I feel like we really made an impact on the players that are younger than us. They have a lot to put forth, and I hope they can do even better than we did just to help the volleyball program even more."
Watson went on to tell WGEM sports that she will most likely make the transition from outside-hitter to libero at McKendree, and academically plans to major in health and wellness with the hopes of becoming a dietician.
