Blandinsville residents upset over vandalized memorial

BLANDINSVILLE, Ill. (WGEM) - Residents are upset over the vandalizing of a veterans memorial in McDonough County as repair crews are attempting to fix damage caused by eggs.

The McDonough County Sheriff's Office says three juveniles were arrested Monday for vandalizing the Veterans Memorial in Blandinsville.

Sheriff Rick VanBrooker says his office received a report Sunday that eggs were thrown onto the memorial. He says the eggs had a negative reaction to the granite and caused permanent damage.

Three juveniles, ages 14, 15, and 16-years-old, were arrested and charged with criminal damage over $500. Two of the juveniles were released to the custody of parents while the other was placed in the Mary Davis Home in Galesburg.

Coming up on WGEM News at Six, we'll take you to the memorial as repairs are underway, along with reactions from local neighbors.
