City of Pittsfield beginning bidding process for third emergency siren
PITTSFIELD, Ill. (WGEM) -
The City of Pittsfield is moving ahead with getting a third emergency siren for the city.
Economic Director Bill McCartney says the city council's health, fire and police committee will make a recommendation on buying the siren, and that electricity will be carried to the siren at no charge.
McCartney says the siren is planned to be placed on the west end of town, between Neal Tire & Auto, and the Walmart store just off Washington Street.
Pittsfield has two sirens in place; one near the water tower and another near Pittsfield High School.
