EWING, Mo. (WGEM) - Lewis County students will start school next fall with a new superintendent.

The school board says John french signed a two-year contract Monday. French will start July 1.

The change comes after longtime superintendent Jacqueline Ebeling announced her retirement after serving as superintendent for the last 15 years. Ebeling will step down at the end of June.

The school board said French got his Bachelor's degree in business and accountancy from Truman State University in 1994 and a Specialist degree in educational administration from Southwest Baptist University in 2008. French has served as a teacher and coach at Salem High School and and Rolla High School and spent the last three years as superintendent of the Morgan County R-1 School District in central Missouri.
