Quincy post office forced to close due to water leak

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - Post office workers at the 8th and Hampshire Street location in Quincy were scrambling Thursday afternoon after a water pipe broke.

Supervisor Melissa Allen says the pipe that broke runs along the ceiling and broke over the lobby area around 11 a.m. The post office was closed to customers after the break occurred.

"It was a mess," Allen said. "The main was turned off so now we're just trying get it cleaned up so we can re-open."

Besides the lobby being closed, Allen says the situation will not affect customers and hopes to have doors back open by 3 p.m.
