Downtown Quincy businesses participate in late night shopping event

Posted:
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - Downtown Quincy Businesses kept their lights on a little longer Thursday night.

Ten businesses in the downtown Quincy Historic District participated in this year's late night shopping event. Businesses like District Designs kept their doors open until 8 p.m. in order to promote downtown shopping.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for people who would usually work the 9am-5pm shift, or work outside of town or just don't make it downtown in the time frame when most businesses are open. It gives them an opportunity to come in get some extra shopping done in the evening especially since we have less time between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year," Chris Taylor with District Designs says.

As part of the event, each business donated money toward a $100 dollar gift certificate that's good for any business in the downtown historic district.

The gift card will be given away to a lucky shopper next week.
