Hannibal School Board continues to expand security

The Hannibal School Board is still taking steps to improve school security.

Business Manager Rich Stilley said representatives from each school will meet each month to go over safety procedures for the entire district.  Stilley believes the school district needs to continue to grow to help keep schools as safe as possible.

"It's a way to incorporate what we do with security so we have a distinct consistent message all the way across the district for everything we have involving safety," Stilley said.

Also at Wednesday's school board meeting, Dr. Brent Underwood with the Missouri School Board Association said roughly a dozen candidates have already applied for the Hannibal Superintendent position.  The application deadline is January 7th and the board anticipates to hire someone one month later.

The School Board also voted to buy three new school buses for roughly $275,000.
