John Wood Community College closer to finding new president

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - John Wood Community College is one step closer to finding a new president.

School administrators said the applicant pool has now been narrowed down from 45 potential candidates to just four.

Current President Dr. John Letts is expected to retire in the spring, after marking more than 25 years with the college.

Board Trustee Randy Sims said he's pleased with the backgrounds of the potential candidates.

"We're looking for somebody that understand our particular district and can communicate with businesses," Sims said. "We're looking for somebody that can raise some funds that the state isn't providing."

Sims said the personal interviews will start in late January or early February. He hopes to have a new president hired by March 1.
