Free tax help available

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - If you're looking for help filing your taxes, there's a place you can turn for free help.

The United Way of Adams County is setting up appointments for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
15 trained and certified volunteers are there to help you file your state and federal income taxes for free if your household earns less that $50,000 a year.

Appointments run from Jan. 29 through April 15.

"We have two types of appointments," United Way's Emily Robbearts said. "They can have their taxes done while they wait about an hour or they can come in and meet with our volunteers and give their information then we'll process their taxes and call them back When their refund is ready and their taxes are ready to be reviewed and signed off on which is usually the next day."

This is the eighth year for the VITA program.
