More than a thousand people chow down at Pork-O-Rama

MENDON, Ill. (WGEM) - A plethora of pork drew in more than 1,000 people to Mendon on Saturday.

The 57th annual Pork-O-Rama drew in hungry people from across the Tri-States to benefit the community.
People who got to Unity High School early dined on pancakes and 3,000 pounds of sausage links.

The lunch crowd chowed down on pork chops and barbecued ribs.

The event is hosted by the Ursa Lions Club and members say the money they rake in is invested back into the community.

"The Ursa park, the ball diamond, the tennis courts, horse shoe pits, basketball courts many things," Larry Lewis said. "In the past we've helped a park down in Meyer."

Officials say they hope to raise between $7,000-$8,000.
