Quincy man serving at Fort Riley killed in car wreck

A Quincy native serving in the U.S. Army and stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas was killed in a car wreck Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash report, 22-year-old Calvin Michalak was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 about 9 miles northwest of Ellsworth, Kan. Michalak entered the median and struck concrete bridge pillars.

Investigators do not know why Michalak drove into the median.

Hansen-Spear Funeral Home in Quincy is handling the funeral arrangements.
