HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -
Emergency Management officials want to see even more people sign up for Code Red alerts in Hannibal and Marion County.
Emergency Management Director John Hark says so far, roughly 11,000 land-line and cell phones have registered. Hark is also working with the Board of Public Works to use the Code Red system to alert people for water main breaks and boil orders.
"So it's there. It's paid for, utilize it. People of Marion County, Hannibal, Palmyra, please sign up for it. I'm at the stage where I almost beg people to come on board. It's for you. It can be a life safety thing," Hark said.
Code Red alerts also notify you for severe weather, amber alerts, or power outages.
