Quincy drivers still reporting trouble on the roads

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - Drivers in Quincy report road conditions improved throughout the day on Saturday, but some motorists are still sliding on slick spots and fishtailing through intersections come nightfall.

Plows have made their way off of Broadway, which is almost entirely clear, but some drivers agree that other streets, mainly side streets, are still packed with snow and ice, which makes things more difficult with less visibility after dark.

"There's like an inch of ice and I haven't seen the trucks laying any salt or plowing," driver James Mock said.

"It's a mess basically. Everybody's sliding and fishtailing everywhere," driver Ron Radcliffe said. "The further out you go the worse it gets."

"They're a little bit better, but they're still pretty rough," driver Lindsey Barton said. "As long as you drive slow, hit your breaks early, all that goes away, but you have those drivers that still want to go 35, 40 miles per hour down Broadway."

Drivers also say that some area highways are still slick, and should be avoided.
