Quincy man to enter guilty plea for Newcomb Hotel fire

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - The Quincy man arrested for burning down the Newcomb Hotel is set to appear in court Tuesday to enter a guilty plea.

Court documents say Mathew Clark, 25, waived his right to a jury trial and is expected to plead guilty to a burglary charge and will be responsible for restitution costs. He was originally charged with burglary and criminal damage over $100 thousand.

Clark was arrested Sept. 6 in connection with the massive fire that destroyed the historic downtown building.
