Below is a list of the nominees for The Honda/Hyundai's Jason Deters & WGEM SportsCenter Prep Athlete of the Week presented by Dene Lambkin. The fan vote counts as one vote in the total vote process ... with 10 sports broadcasters/writers submitting ballots as well. The winner will be announced Tuesday morning at 7:20 on WGEM SportsCenter -- ESPN 1440 AM or WGEM.com/sports.

From March 3 - March 9

Alex Blickhan (Unity) -- Leading the surprise of the area, Blickhan led the Mustangs with 17 points on Friday to send the team to the Class 1A Brimfield Sectional win. On Wednesday he went for 23 to knock off Liberty.

Kristen Gengenbacher (QND) -- Coming up with a third-place finish at the state tourney, the senior scored 22 points against Burlington Central to take third. On Friday in a tough loss she had 21 points and also went for 15 in a win on Monday.

Devan Johnson (Marion County) -- With a game-high 25 points and 13 rebounds, Johnson and the Lady Mustangs outscored Linn County by 10 in the fourth quarter and overtime combined to advance to the state tournament. She led the team with 24 points on Tuesday in a win over Community R-6.

Tyler Niemann (Canton) -- Leading his team to the Class 2 state tournament, the senior dropped a game-high 33 points on Father Tolton on Saturday. He went for 18 on Wednesday in a sectional win over Cairo.
