Quincy Public School Board creates steering committee

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - The Quincy Public School Board of Education has established a large committee to create and finalize plan for the future.

The board announced Tuesday that it established a "Superintendent's Steering Committee" to develop a district-wide plan. The steering committee will be facilitated by QPS Business Manager Joel Murphy and Todd Moore, of Architechnics Inc.

A total of 30 people will serve on the committee, including four parents. The committee will review and research the need for new facilities, locations, grade structures and financing. The members will then look through any educational and financial options to meet those needs.

The committee's first step will be obtaining public input through forums and surveys. Dates for the forums have not been released yet.

The committee is expected to make its final recommendation in June.
