Local parks are being touched up for the Spring season

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - If you're one of the many in the Tri-States suffering from cabin fever, soon local parks will be opening.

The Director of Parks, Rome Frericks, says the Quincy Park District is aiming to have the roads back open by the last week of March. But Frericks says it will depend on the weather.

"Clearing the roads, getting all the debris off of them," Frericks said. "And we're still working on some tree maintenance yet. We still have about a dozen trees to drop yet. That way we just won't have to worry about vehicles coming in behind the equipment and someone potentially getting hurt."

Frericks says compared to years past they're actually a little behind schedule.

"We had some things scheduled for the first of March," Frericks said. "But with these snows, even though we get one ot two inches, we still have to clear the roads and throw some salt down and maintain that. But we'll get caught up."

The Westview Golf Course opens for the season Saturday at 8a.m. The batting cages, mini golf, paddle boats and disc golf will open April 11.
