QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -
It was a white St. Patrick's Day run for those who braved the elements early this morning in the Kelly's Fun Run.
Organizers say 250 runners signed up, but roughly half of them canceled with the weather. The money raised will go towards the YWCA who helps low income families and the homeless. YWCA executive director Mary Muehlenfeld said the dedicated runners show her the importance of the cause.
"Well it means a lot to me but it means a lot more to the hundred of women and children that we house and connect with services to help them become self sufficient and no longer be homeless," she said.
Muehlenfeld says the YWCA raised about $4,000 from this event.
