Irish parish celebrates St. Patrick's Day

Posted:
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - Quincy's only Irish parish celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a corned beef and cabbage dinner.

St. Rose of Lima has been doing its annual corned beef and cabbage dinner since the church reopened in 2009.

Since the church was originally founded by the Irish community in Quincy, organizers say the event is a good way to remember all the Irish who served the church.

"I like it because it's a good community get-together," Paul Geers said. "We've had a lot of friends and things over the years that have passed now, but we sure have the good memories of the Irish that were here serving at St. Rose."
